Working principle of fish tank filter
As a fish tank filter, there must be two or more filtering methods. At present, the main filtering methods are: physical filtration, biochemical filtration, chemical filtration and adsorption filtration. As long as the power is plugged in, it will work continuously. 1. Physical filtration: it is the use of mechanical means to separate the larger particles in the water. Such as the remaining feed particles, dead fish bones, fish excreta, secretions, vomit, body surface mucus, generally use sponge, spray cotton, fine mesh nylon mesh, palm leaf fiber, etc. It is usually set at the initial end of the filtration system for easy cleaning.
2. Biofiltration: Cultivation of beneficial bacteria to decompose harmful elements such as ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate, etc. The commonly used filter media are: biochemical ball, ceramic ring, glass ring, coral sand, etc. (the main filtering method, maintaining the ecosystem)
3. Chemical filtration: it is a method to remove the impurities in water by chemical agents. The preparations used include water quality stabilizer, flocculant, algae remover, protein decomposing agent, deodorant, etc.
4. Adsorption filtration: it is wood, coal, fruit shell, animal bone and other high carbon materials, which can adsorb protein, trace elements, decolorization and odor removal in seawater, and even ozone molecules can be absorbed by it. Fish urine, microalgae and drugs in water can also be absorbed by it. Since nitrifying bacteria must live in filter cotton, glass ring or bottom sand with flowing water, the filter should be open 24 hours a day.
